How art could change and empower people in their daily life? What about children living in Lithuanian orphanages, which are in rural areas? “We Do It Together” is to prove that art can affect children’s lives and empower them to develop themselves with the help of international volunteers. Through art, children can express their sacred emotions without any fear to be judged. Lithuania faces a problem of English proficiency in the outskirts of big cities, as people do not pay much attention to the kids' English knowledge level, thus this international project brings the world closer and more accessible even to children who may not be considered as privileged as others.
"We Do It Together" is an annual 6-week project which was first created in 2015. Each year it reaches approximately 2-4 different Lithuanian orphanages and brings a team of around 15 international volunteers to work with children living in those orphanages. This year we already have 5 orphanages that are willing to work with us and we are aiming to bring 25 volunteers to help orphans in "We Do It Together".
Contribution to community/society
"We Do It Together" project is aimed at contributing to the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goal No. 10 (Reduced Inequalities). We are trying to incorporate minors into society by engaging them in activities with international volunteers to develop orphans' English and social skills.
What would you spend your prize on?
Financial support enables us to upscale the project by bringing in a higher number of volunteers from a variety of countries around the world. More volunteers mean a higher reach of Lithuanian children living in the orphanages.
